Lifelong Maritime Roots

Laird’s passion for the water began in Chatham, Massachusetts, learning to sail aboard a Sailfish. She later advanced to Penguins and 420s at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. Her deep connection to the Mid-Atlantic boating community grew through family cruises on the Chesapeake Bay aboard a Hinckley Bermuda 40 out of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Philadelphia.

Deep Yacht Industry Expertise

Before entering yacht sales, Laird spent 12 years in the banking industry at Loyola Savings and Loan of Maryland. This background gives her clients a distinct advantage in boat financing and marine transactions. In 1990, she transitioned her financial acumen and sailing passion into a professional brokerage career at Oxford Boatyard Yacht Sales (now Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard and Marina), serving as a trusted yacht broker and office manager for 25 years.

Key milestones of her career include:

• Brand Specialist: Mastered powerboat construction and sales starting in 1993 when her office became a premier dealer for Sabre Yachts and Back Cove Motor Yachts.
• Marina Liaison: Worked closely with boatyard teams on new vessel commissioning, acting as a seamless link between new owners and marina staff.
• Transaction Expert: Developed an intimate understanding of the boat buying and selling process, expertly guiding clients through marine surveys, sea trials, vessel registration, and Coast Guard documentation.

Local Commitment and Family Legacy

Laird lives in Easton, Maryland, with her husband of 30 years, who serves as the rigging supervisor at Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard. Their daughter, a 2020 Washington College graduate, continues the family's maritime tradition as the Summer Sailing Director at the Tred Avon Yacht Club and the sailing team coach for the Gunston School in Centreville, Maryland.
