“She is a head turner through my travels and deservedly so” … to quote the seller
The integrity & dedication to the design and build aspect was undertaken by shipwrights with 40-plus years of experience. These shipwrights worked and earned their wings working for high-end boatbuilders along the Maine coast.
Northern Bay hull was designed in 2004; considered by many to be known as a “slippery” hull. Her design allows her to take speed without getting “squirrelly” and allows her to steer well with minimal bow steer in a heaping following sea. Her cruise is right around 23 knots and in heavy seas you can back off and she will react as a full displacement hull.
Interior design is a timeless 40’s classic build-out. Many hours of design, fabrication and build went into the interior finishes. The final result is unique and one-of-a-kind.
Hull specifications:
“Tarry Knot” will appeal to the discriminating eye - built by a Yachtsman with experience and knowledge in construction from design to final fit and finish. There are many custom aspects not mentioned, like the custom-built mast, Evolution Drive, and twin-piston hydraulic steering, but they can be seen in the pictures and walk through video.
This stunning one-owner 38 Northern Bay's hull was laid in 2007 and then went to be outfitted by Morgan Bay Boat Works in Frankfort ME which took 3 years to complete and was commissioned in 2010. The owner being a high-end custom home builder with a large wood shop made most of the woodwork, doors, cabinets and furniture in his shop and shipped it to Maine for the shipwrights at Morgan Bay to install. He personally hand-crafted the Hi-Low table and did the inlays himself.

I grew up on Barnegat Bay and had my first boat at the age of 13. This started my lifelong love affair with boats and the sea.
I have worked in the boating industry for almost 40 years. I started as a bottom painter and worked my way up to marine mechanic then to marine business owner and marina manager, and now for the last 10 years, a yacht broker. I honed the skills needed to not only run boats but also learned what makes boats run. I am equally at home at the helm as well as in the engine room
I have held a USCG license for over 30 years. I captained a private motor yacht for one family for 25 years. I also worked as a delivery captain making the trip between the Northeast and Florida 34 times. I also participated in the 1989 Marion Massachusetts to Hamilton Bermuda Race in an Irwin 38.
At Brewer Yacht Sales I will use my vast knowledge of boats both power and sail and their systems to help clients make the right choice in the boat that is right for them.
