Description

The 2000 Hunter 340 is a beautifully balanced cruiser that blends comfort, performance, and smart design into a sailboat that appeals to both novice sailors and seasoned cruisers alike. At almost 34 feet overall, the Hunter 340 offers a generous interior space that rivals larger vessels, making it ideal for extended weekends, coastal cruising, or even living aboard.

Step inside and you’ll immediately notice the well-maintained, thoughtfully laid-out interior and fresh look of the teak and holly sole. The open salon– boasting an impressive 6’4” headroom –  features a comfortable settee and dinette that converts into additional berths, all bathed in natural light from large, well-placed port-lights and hatches. The galley is practical and well-equipped for its size, with ample counter space, a two-burner stove, oven, double sink, refrigerator, and generous storage — everything needed for preparing meals on the Chesapeake. Forward, the v-berth cabin provides a private retreat, while the aft cabin offers generous full beam berth comfort, a rare find in boats of this class. The head compartment is roomy and equipped with all the essentials for comfortable cruising.

On deck, the Hunter 340’s well-designed cockpit invites easy handling and relaxation. Whether cruising with family or entertaining friends, there’s plenty of room to move and sit comfortably. The sail plan, boasting a balanced sloop rig with main and genoa furling from the cockpit, delivers responsive performance under sail without overwhelming the crew. Easy lines and accessible winches make sail handling manageable even with a small crew.

The Hunter 340 is also known for its solid construction and dependable systems, giving owners confidence for season after season of adventure. Whether you’re exploring your local waters, charting a course for distant harbors, or simply enjoying a sunset sail, the Hunter 340 delivers an inviting blend of performance, comfort, and value that continues to captivate cruising enthusiasts.

Accommodations

The guest stateroom features a large V-berth, hanging lockers on either side and a privacy door. Next aft is the main salon. This consists of a large U-shaped dinette to port with a drop leaf dining table that converts into a double berth. Opposite to starboard is a single settee which can be a berth, as well as a seat for the Navigator. The large nav table is aft of the single settee and has room for charts, the electrical panel and electronics. There is ample storage under and outboard of both settees. Next aft to starboard is the large, private head. This features a vanity w/ sink, mirror, H&C pressure water, and marine toilet w/ holding tank. Opposite to port is the fully equipped galley with Corian countertops, a stainless-steel double sink and a 2-burner stove with oven and broiler, as well as a top loading refrigerator and microwave too. Aft of this is the entrance to the private master cabin. This has a large queen size, athwartships berth, (new mattresses in 2024), hanging locker and abundant storage.

Additional Manufacturer Description

Starting with the tall, fractional rig, Hunter has engineered the mast to carry less weight aloft with smaller sections. This is accomplished by utilizing swept-back spreaders and reverse diagonals as well as mast support struts. This combination provides superior strength without a backstay and increases the stability at the same time. By using a large roach main as the power sail, Hunter has eased the effort in sail handling and provided real versatility for all wind and sea conditions. The deck layout reflects the innovation that accompanies the rig. An integrated arch protects the cockpit from snapping main sheets and blistering sun (with an optional bimini). This arch keeps the cockpit clear and open, where a custom console stands ready with the standard VHF and instruments. Single lever control and fold down table, along with engine instrumentation, complete the command station. The swim platform and walkthrough transom complete with shower and folding ladder are perfect for water sports or for boarding the tender. Storage is everywhere you look and the non-skid is absolutely first-rate. Comfort is truly important whether you're on the boat for a week or a year, so Hunter has created an interior that not only looks good, but works for you as well. Two private, large staterooms along with an enormous head with shower, a salon that can seat eight, and a gourmet galley will keep all the crew happy. Hunter Marine's keel boats are the backbone of the Hunter fleet. These spacious and comfortable cruisers are incredibly appointed from the rich fabrics to the top-grade hardware. Hunter Marine Hunter Marine Corporation was founded in 1973 to build truly affordable sailboats. Warren Luhrs, Hunter's chairman, has personally logged thousands of ocean miles both single-handedly and shorthanded aboard his ocean racers. From these floating laboratories hundreds of new ideas have been born. The same B & R rig that powered his boats into the record books also power the Hunter fleet. A lot has changed over the years, but Hunter Marine continues its commitment of bringing the sailing public the best performing and most accommodating sailboats at a reasonable price.
