The Cape Dory 40 Explorer powered by a pair of Caterpillar 3116 - 291 HP Diesel with 1430 hours equipped with full keel protecting running gear that have been yard maintained. The Explorer 40 being a fast trawler is known for her fuel economy, wide walk around decks, spacious cockpit, large upper station area with full canvas enclosure with isinglass, a nicely appointed interior that includes a lower helm, a convertible settee, drop leaf table, entertainment center and teak holy flooring through out. The state rooms forward include a two berth with a hanging closet to port a full island berth forward with closet, head and shower. Full electronics package that are mirror a the lower helm, Marine AC / reverse cycle heat systems, galley is equipped with a 3 burner Kenyon stove, Sharp convection micro wave combo and an oversize refrigerator / freezer. With a life-long passion for boats and the water much of what I've done in life has in one way or another involved boats. As a youngster, my family owned several boats which we kept in Branford, CT at the Indian Neck Yacht Club. After high school, I spent 15 years in the U.S. Coast Guard in which I spent 18 months in Alaska before returning to CT where I became certified as coxswain of Coast Guard search and rescue boats up to 44'.Â
After my Coast Guard service, I worked for 10 years in the wholesale marine equipment business where I supplied boatyards and marine dealers throughout Connecticut.Â
In 1983 I began selling new boats and have worked for two reputable Connecticut dealerships; 14 years at Milford Boat Works selling new Mako, Pursuit, Phoenix, Black Watch, Cape Dory, and North Coast powerboats plus O'Day, Cal, Pearson and Freedom sailboats. Then 14 years at Petzold's Marine selling Sabre, Back Cove, Silverton, Mainship, Luhrs, Egg Harbor and Ocean powerboats. I now have a long, successful history of selling quality new boats.Â
In 2013, after 30 years of selling new boats I was ready for a change. I decided to concentrate exclusively on the brokerage boat market. I joined Brewer Yacht Sales, one of the Northeast's largest yacht brokerage firms. I've now been at Brewer Yacht Sales for over 12 years. I work out of two of Safe Harbor's largest Connecticut marinas: Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook and Bruce & Johnsons Marina in Branford.Â
