CONSTRUCTION

First introduced in 1955, the Dyer 29 is the longest production boat in the history of fiberglass boat building. Built in Warren, Rhode Island, these boats have a solid fiberglass hull with a fiberglass deck assembly that is balsa cored. A great Downeast design that goes through the water smoothly.

Fuel: 46 gallons in two 23-gallon polyethalene tanks, 2019.

Holding: 20 gallons in a polyurethane tank

ACCOMMODATIONS

In the forward cabin, aft of the anchor rope locker are two vee berths that can be converted to a double berth, storage below. The opening hatch and two ports with screens provide nice light and ventilation. Reading lights, port and starboard on the bulkhead over the berths. Next aft to starboard is a built-in shelving unit followed by the enclosed head with a manual Raritan HP-II marine flush with holding tank. To port after the vee berths is the galley with Formica counter, stainless steel sink with hand pump, alcohol 2-burner stove with outboard open shelves for galley ware storage. A cabin heater is mounted in the aft cabin. The cabin headroom is 6' with a total of four opening ports with screens. Varnished teak trim throughout with white bulkheads and a teak cabin sole. These photos were taken while in storage, so the attractive and clean berth cushions were stored elsewhere. An attractive and compact cabin.

Up the companionway steps into the wheelhouse with the helm to starboard with instruments mounted on the teak varnished dash as well as overhead. Electric windshield wipers for both windows and sliding side windows port. The starboard side wheelhouse is open with the option to unroll a clear plastic curtain. Two pedestal seats--one mounted to the sole for the captain and the other is mounted on the forward engine box cover. Custom cushions provide comfortable seating there and on the custom stern seat aft. The headroom at the helm is 6'3. 10" wide side decks lead up to the fore deck with a stainless steel bow rail and handrails on the shelter top. On the teak pulpit is the anchor with rollers. Stainless steel deck hardware and half oval on the PVC guard rail, and a teak swim platform aft with dinghy davits.
