Description
Sleek styling, intelligent engineering and rugged construction categorize all Phoenix boats. All models feature a solid fiberglass hull plus a unique, full-length inner liner that shapes the boat's interior and greatly strengthens the hull from stem to stern. The handsome 38 Convertible has a huge cockpit and a nice galley-up, two stateroom interior layout. J-Bel is an exceptionally well maintained example of this impressive design. Her one and only owner has kept her in top condition with newer T-Volvo Penta 475 hp diesels, newer generator, newer electronics, canvas enclosure and much more. J-Bel is truly a must see boat!

Overview
Construction
A rugged, solid fiberglass deep V-hull with propellor pockets. Like all Phoenix designs the 38 is constructed with a full-length, one piece molded fiberglass inner liner that shapes the boat's interior and greatly strengthens the hull. It extends all the way from the chain locker bulkhead back to the transom. It forms all the sole levels throughout the boat, extends up the hullsides to the shear and includes all hatch and bulkhead receivers, berth platforms, shower pan and the head compartment base. Once this liner has been bonded with the hullsides and the fore and aft engine room bulkheads it creates an incredibly strong structure. An added advantage is the liner also provides a completely finished, low maintenance interior appearance.
Interior
Enter the salon through the sliding glass the stylish salon has a pilot chair to port and starboard side L-shaped convertible settee with an electronics cabinet further forward . A unique angled breakfast bar separates the salon from the portside galley which is one step below the salon. Going forward, down two steps there is the guest stateroom with over/under berths with storage drawers and a hanging locker. Opposite to starboard is the head compartment with marine toilet, vanity and a stall shower. Further forward is the owner's stateroom with a large double berth to port, a starboard side vanity, hanging locker and numerus storage compartments and drawers, Overhead are numerous rod racks. The cabin soles and walls throughout the interior are low maintenance, off-white fiberglass of the boat's one piece molded inner liner which extends from the transom all the way to the forward rope locker. An impressive piece of engineering.
Exterior
The great looking, solidly built Phoenix 38 is a practical, well thought out design. The large 110 sq ft cockpit has a walk-thru transom door and gate, two 6 foot long in-deck fishboxes, live well, fresh and raw water washdowns and a bait prep station. There is a pair of Lee double spreader outriggers. A cockpit hatch provides direct engine room access. Going forward the side decks are a minimum of 14" wide with double bow rails with welded fender holders. A rugged welded cockpit ladder provides safe access to the flybridge which has seating for 6 people and the helm positioned aft provides the helmsman with unobstructed views of the cockpit. The flybridge has a fiberglass hardtop and a recent full enclosure.

With a life-long passion for boats and the water much of what I've done in life has in one way or another involved boats. As a youngster, my family owned several boats which we kept in Branford, CT at the Indian Neck Yacht Club. After high school, I spent 15 years in the U.S. Coast Guard in which I spent 18 months in Alaska before returning to CT where I became certified as coxswain of Coast Guard search and rescue boats up to 44'.Â
After my Coast Guard service, I worked for 10 years in the wholesale marine equipment business where I supplied boatyards and marine dealers throughout Connecticut.Â
In 1983 I began selling new boats and have worked for two reputable Connecticut dealerships; 14 years at Milford Boat Works selling new Mako, Pursuit, Phoenix, Black Watch, Cape Dory, and North Coast powerboats plus O'Day, Cal, Pearson and Freedom sailboats. Then 14 years at Petzold's Marine selling Sabre, Back Cove, Silverton, Mainship, Luhrs, Egg Harbor and Ocean powerboats. I now have a long, successful history of selling quality new boats.Â
In 2013, after 30 years of selling new boats I was ready for a change. I decided to concentrate exclusively on the brokerage boat market. I joined Brewer Yacht Sales, one of the Northeast's largest yacht brokerage firms. I've now been at Brewer Yacht Sales for over 12 years. I work out of two of Safe Harbor's largest Connecticut marinas: Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook and Bruce & Johnsons Marina in Branford.Â
