Description

LILLE VENN is a beautiful example of the iconic Bristol 29.9, originally designed for racing and beloved for its cruising and performance. The hull is constructed of solid, hand-laid fiberglass and the hull and deck are joined with an inward flange resulting in a strong and tight connection. A large rudder provides a responsive helm and the skeg forward of the rudder offers protection for the propeller and good directional control. Design features produce a “well-mannered” vessel in terms of speed and performance that can also stand up to heavy air. In its ten-year production run of 29.9s, Bristol Yachts produced 216 examples--quite a testament to the build quality and design.

The Bristol 29.9 remains a popular choice for sailors looking for traditional quality and construction. The exceptional spaciousness of this thirty-footer results from her long waterline, excellent utilization of interior space, her ample beam and over six feet of headroom. The 29.9 is a great boat for day sailing, overnighting or extended cruising.

LILLE VENN has been well-maintained and updated. Some of the notable improvements include re-powered in 2017 with a 20 hp Yanmar, topsides re-painted in 2012, new electronics in 2016 and a new rudder in 2022. The interior is clean and bright with cushions, curtains, and cabin sole in good condition. A Fairclough winter cover and frame are also part of the package, and optional equipment includes (7) boat stands and a 500# mushroom-style mooring anchor.

This is a classic Herreshoff-designed vessel that has benefited from a knowledgeable and attentive owner. Striking at rest and even more so under sail, if you are considering a traditional yacht in good condition, LILLE VENN should be on your short list to see now.

LILLE VENN can be seen by appointment in the water in Greenwich, CT.

Lynn fell in love with sailing and the boating lifestyle when she moved to the East Coast to work as a young adult. She understands that boating can be a wonderful, but daunting, experience. Her belief is that owning a boat should be positive, and buying and selling should be both professional and personalized to the needs of her clients.

Lynn’s insights and expertise have been gained through her extensive cruising, certification coursework, sailing, navigation and safety instruction, and earning her USCG Masters License. She was a boat owner for more than 25 years having both power and sail and is active in her local yacht club. Professionally, Lynn learned about boats, boaters and the industry as Marketing Director for Brewer Yacht Yards which included 26 locations. With the 2017 acquisition of Brewer Yacht Yards by Safe Harbor Marinas, she was appointed Director of Member Experience for the 80+ national locations.

Lynn has two adult sons who were raised in, on, and around the water and are still messing about with boats for work and pleasure. They have provided additional perspectives on boating, life and boat choices.

As an American Sailing Association and US Sail & Power Squadron Instructor and private captain, Lynn loves empowering people in boating, especially women. She understands that boating can be fabulous if all onboard feel safe, comfortable, and confident. That starts with the selection of the right boat for your lifestyle.
