| Meet John Wenz, Relationship Manager for the Brewer Yacht Sales Preferred Insurance Program John Wenz joined Gowrie Group, the largest independent marine insurance agency in the US, in 2020 as a Yacht Insurance Specialist. John is a long-time insurance industry veteran, going back to his days as a trainee at Johnson & Higgins in the early 1980’s. Most recently, he served as Senior Marine Surveyor at ACE and as the Recreational Marine Risk Consulting Manager at CHUBB. John’s been a SAMS (Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors) marine surveyor for nearly 20 years and was the founder and president of JB Wenz Marine Survey & Consulting. Wenz is well-versed in the marine world, having spent time as a Tender Captain for the “Stars & Stripes” America’s Cup Campaign, and as a captain of various large vessels including a 192’ foot, 500 passenger dinner cruise ship. His long list of yachting experiences includes names like Feadship, Grand Banks, Hinckley, and Herreshoff, and ranges from SWATH vessels to classic yachts to solar-powered vessels. John holds a B.S. in Marine Transportation Management from SUNY Maritime College and is a licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Producer. His related qualifications include USCG Licensed Ship Officer, Accredited Marine Surveyor, and he is an accomplished recreational marine loss control expert. He also serves as a Mentor in the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors and is a member of the American Boat & Yacht Council. John is the former Board Chair of the Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY Riverfront Revitalization Committee and a Certified Youth Sports Coach & Trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance. |
