The Catalina 425 is designed with both performance and comfort in mind, featuring twin helms on performance pedestals with pre-stretched cables for responsive handling. The hull incorporates six recessed fixed ports, flooding the interior with natural light and enhancing visibility. Sail handling is made efficient with a self-tacking jib, jib traveler, and lines for both main and jib sheets led aft to the helm—ideal for short-handed or single-handed sailing.
The forward owner’s cabin offers a spacious centerline berth with an elevating, adjustable mattress. Aft, there are port and starboard cabins—one of which can be easily converted to a storage space with access via a gull-wing cockpit hatch. Centrally located, the mechanical space provides easy access to the engine, generator, water heater, and air conditioners, streamlining routine maintenance.
Unique structural innovations include Catalina’s StrikeZone™ watertight forward collision bulkhead, the DeepDefense™ rudder system for dependable steering, and the T-Beam MastStep™—a hybrid mast support system offering the benefits of both deck- and keel-stepped masts. The SecureSocket™ chainplate system ensures precise load distribution and watertight integrity.
Built using advanced knitted laminates for increased strength without added weight, this vessel features Catalina's signature lead keel for impact absorption and reduced maintenance. All onboard systems are engineered to meet ABYC and IMCI standards, qualifying the yacht for Category A – Unlimited Offshore rating.

Meet Age Gap, a beautifully maintained Catalina 425 that blends modern design with the legendary heritage of the Catalina 42. This model was designed from the keel up to be a practical, comfortable cruiser—offering the spacious cockpit, thoughtful interior, and dependable performance that Catalina owners love, with a fresh, contemporary twist.
Step aboard and you’ll notice how generous the cockpit space is. Twin helms on performance pedestals give the skipper great visibility and control, with lines and sail controls led aft for easy single- or short-handed sailing. You can comfortably sail while seated, thanks to the ergonomic layout.
Just forward of the helms, you’ll find two high-back seats—perfect for relaxing at anchor or underway. On the starboard side, the bench seat even transforms into a sun lounge. Age Gap includes fitted closed-cell cockpit cushions and a matching gray canvas package, including a bimini, dodger, connector, and bimini extension panels for full sun protection.
A folding centerline cockpit table makes a great spot for sunset dinners or morning coffee. Aft, a full-width arch supports solar panels and davits with pulleys, while the swim platform and fold-down ladder make water access easy. Below, there’s dedicated storage for safety gear—because convenience and safety go hand-in-hand on Age Gap.
The deck is wide and uncluttered, with diamond gray non-skid for sure footing. Six recessed hull ports bring in plenty of light below. A self-tacking jib and jib traveler are standard, and the electric mainsheet winch makes sail handling a breeze. At the bow, you’ll find a large anchor and locker, designed to protect the windlass and house gear. Even the liferaft is thoughtfully mounted on deck and covered in matching canvas.
Age Gap comes fully equipped with a comprehensive Raymarine electronics suite, including i70 instruments (wind, speed, depth), twin Axiom Pro 9” MFDs at the helm, AIS700, Quantum 2 radar, and the EV400 sail pilot system. A Standard Horizon VHF is installed below at the nav station, rounding out this fully capable offshore setup.
Step below and you’re greeted by a bright, inviting salon. The upgraded ultra-leather cream upholstery adds a soft, modern touch. A large U-shaped settee with a beautiful wood folding table creates a perfect space for meals or lounging, and there's a large TV, stereo system, and fans to keep the air moving and the vibe relaxed.
The forward owner’s cabin features a spacious centerline berth with an elevating adjustable mattress—great for reading or relaxing. There’s ample storage with drawers below, a large hanging locker, and a built-in vanity with seat and mirror. You’ll also find a second TV here, making it a cozy retreat. The private en-suite head includes a separate shower, electric flush toilet, sink, and generous storage behind the vanity mirror.
To starboard, the main guest cabin offers a queen-sized berth with its own hanging locker, built-in storage, and ventilation. This cabin has private en-suite access to the aft head, which mirrors the forward setup with a separate shower, vanity, and toilet.
To port, the third cabin is currently set up as a “garage” or utility space, with access to the engine room, Rainman watermaker, Victron inverter system, and generator. But it easily converts into a full guest cabin—complete with hanging locker, berth platform, and on-deck access via the gull-wing hatch. This flexibility is ideal whether you need more accommodation or more storage.
In the center of the boat, a well-organized mechanical area provides excellent access to the Yanmar engine, generator, water heater, and air conditioning systems—making inspections and maintenance a breeze. And yes, Age Gap is equipped with a generator and reverse-cycle air conditioning throughout for complete comfort wherever you go.
The U-shaped galley is safe, functional, and well-appointed for life aboard. It features a gimbaled propane stove and oven, microwave, front-opening fridge and freezer, ice maker, and double stainless sink with splash guard. Storage above and below the counters keeps everything organized and accessible.
Age Gap benefits from Catalina’s signature structural innovations:
The hull uses knitted laminates for high strength without added weight, and the lead keel is designed to absorb impact while reducing long-term maintenance.
Age Gap is the kind of yacht that invites you to go farther, stay longer, and enjoy the journey in comfort and confidence. Whether you're coastal cruising, island hopping, or heading offshore, she's ready for whatever adventure comes next.
