Good Answer 2009 78E Marlow Explorer
"Good Answer" is a magnificent vessel that was custom built with many special options that are evident throughout the yacht. On top of all the custom conveniences added she is powered with twin Caterpillar 1800hp C-32's that can propel her world famous Marlow composite structure hull efficiently. She can run at 8 knots for 3,000 miles on a single tank and can make fast passages at 20+ knots. Many owners of 78E's report they like to run "9 or 19 knots". She can cruise at 22-24 knots when moderately loaded. Good answer has always been professionally captain maintained and is in good condition and ready to fulfill the dreams of her new owner.
This yacht is very popular in the Bahamas with her fully protected keels and under 5' draft. Shallow draft and speed really open up the cruising grounds compared to her heavy slow deeper draft yachts on the market.

Good Answer's main deck is finished in natural teak. This provides a very secure footing, even when wet. The swim platform is very large and is perfect for Bahamas trips with the family. There are boarding doors at the stern that are great for floating docks and there are side boarding doors with marquip stairs for taller docks. This yacht was ordered from the factory with a wider than normal boarding door and day head on the main deck that accessible from the cockpit for those with more limited mobility. The side decks are fully protected and perfect for those with small children or pets. Once the front Portuguese doors are closed there is no place for anyone to fall under a rail. These side decks also provide the crew the ability to quickly secure the vessel.
The cockpit is a great entertaining space with a large built in bench seat, beautiful high gloss teak table with room for 3-5 additional chairs around it. There is also a built in L settee that is nice and protected that is bound to be a favorite spot when running slow.
The Salon has a very large seating area to starboard that is covered in very comfortable upholstery fabric.
The port side has the large tv and two comfortable chairs. The floor is beautiful Teak and Ebony solid wood in a satin finish.
At the forward end of the salon is a nice desk area and to starboard is the stairway the provides access the the Master Stateroom. This feature is not found on many vessels built. This provides the owners in the Master Stateroom much more privacy than a yacht with access via a central hallway. This set of stairs is also perfectly straight and is much easier to navigate for those with limited mobility.
Beautiful teak and ebony sole. To starboard is a large built in "U" shaped sofa with storage underneath and paired with generous sized coffee table. Forward of the seating area is a desk and office area followed by the private entrance to the master stateroom.
To the port are two fabric covered club chairs separated by a built-in teak entertainment center that houses flat screen TV that lowers into the cabinet when not in use and the surround sound system & stereo. Forward to port is the expansive bar with sink, Scotsman ice maker, Sub Zero wine cooler and storage cabinet for glasses and beverages.
The Galley is elevated in the pilothouse but has a pass-through area to the salon providing a much more open feel than most yachts of this design. When cooking in the Galley, you know what is happening in the Salon and also see where you are going looking straight out of the front pilothouse windows. For those that are prone to some sea sickness, this galley up design is the best as when you can see the horizon is much better for most. The classic and functional Black Galaxy countertops are spacious and beautiful.
The fully protected lower helm is really nice on not so nice days offshore. The flybridge does have a nice enclosure, but on long passages offshore there is no better place to operate the yacht than from the lower helm. This helm staton is elevated - hence the term, "raised pilothouse"; so you have excellent visibility. This protected station also features the breakers and monitoring systems for operation the vessel. From this station you can see any alarms, monitor all tanks levels, monitor all battery banks, and see the status of the inverter. There is a full set of Caterpillar engine gauges and great navigation electronics.
Master Stateroom
The full beam master suite is aft with king sized center line bed, four cedar lined closets, built in teak cabinets and chest of drawers to starboard and a large vanity to port. Extra features include a large Sentry safe, Shoji shades for privacy, and a flat screen TV. Aft to starboard is a private entrance from the master suite to the salon. Aft to port is the large owners head complete with granite counters, rich teak cabinetry throughout, upgraded Vacuflush head, bidet and a large walk in shower with full length built in bench seat.
VIP Stateroom
Forward is the VIP stateroom with queen island berth, two cedar lined hanging lockers, teak storage cabinets port and starboard and large drawer storage beneath the berth and flat screen TV. The VIP has it's own large ensuite head with upgraded Vacuflush head and separate walk in shower, granite counter tops and rich teak cabinetry.
Port Guest Stateroom
To port is a guest stateroom with sided by side single berths that accommodate adults well. There is lots of storage in the forward hanging locker and in drawers beneath the berths. This stateroom has a full head with walk in shower.
4th Stateroom and Laundry
To starboard is a guest stateroom with one double berth above and a Bosch washer & dryer beneath. This is a very functional laundry area with the berth providing an excellent surface for sorting and folding.
The flybridge is an excellent helm station and spacious entertaining area. There is an enclosure protecting you from the wind and spray and you have great visibility from this position. Most prefer to be up there in tight quarters due to the increased visibility the added height provides. There are 2 upgraded Garmin Screens forward and a newer Garmin Radar.
Flybridge Bar:
The Bar area aft of the helm chairs is a great entertaining area. There is even AC coming from ducts just under the counter the take the edge of on warm days.
The engine room in Good Answer is a pleasure to work in. She has full standup headroom and great access to all equipment. There are fans to supply and extract air so you can manage airflow. The engine room has heavy soundproofing and you will find the yacht is quiet inside even when using most of her 3,600 HP. The fuel tank is near the center of buoyancy and is one large tank, so there is no need to monitor multiple tanks or transfer fuel. The engine room is air-conditioned so the space can be kept cooler and dryer making it easier to keep down surface corrosion and the service technicians will really appreciate this as well.
