Description

The Beth Richard is a locally designed and built powerboat named for the owners' children and was built by the owner and father-in-law with Ronald Rich's design, frames and supervision. She has worked at a boatyard moving boats to and from moorings and the boatyard. She offers overnight accommodations for two below and space for several in cockpit chairs. The boat is well equipped with electronics and an engine that is well-maintained with only 700 hours since 2006.

CONSTRUCTION

This boat was launched in 1987. She was built by the current owner and his father-in-law with Ronald Rich supervising the build. 1 1/8" Cedar over 2 1/4" oak frames, 5"x9" oak keel. Bronze fastened. The wheelhouse and trunk cabin are West System epoxied and painted over marine plywood. Hackmatack guard and toe rails. Teak handrails on shelter and cabin tops. The topsides are painted white with red rails and boottop, blue bottom, and gray superstructure and platform.

ENGINE

2006 Mercruiser 350 HP 8-cylinder gas engine, fresh water cooled. Borg Warner transmission. 700 engine hours. Hydroslave steering. 1 1/2" stainless steel shaft swinging a 3-blade bronze propeller. Wood rudder with bronze shaft. 2-lever Morse controls at both starboard inside and cockpit helms.

ELECTRICAL

Two AGM 31 batteries, Electrical Panel at helm. Navigational Lights, Cabin, Wheelhouse, and Cockpit lights. Spot light. Two bilge pumps, one is automatic hard-wired to battery.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Starting in the cabin, aft of the rope locker is a large double vee berth with 4" blue upholstered cushions, storage below. Next aft to starboard are built-in open storage shelves followed by the enclosed head with a marine flush. To port is the galley with a stainless steel sink with a cold water faucet. The counter is both stainless steel and white Formica. Wall sconce-type lights throughout. The cabin sole is teak and holly plywood, and the trim is mahogany. A large Bomar hatch is over the double berth and four opening and screened ports all provide good natural light and ventilation. Cabin heater installed on port side. Cabin headroom is 5'4".


Up three steps into the wheelhouse with the helm to starboard. The electronics include a VHF radio, Garmin 175C GPS/Chartplotter, Furuno 1623 Radar, Seatalk ST5000 Autopilot, 6" Danforth Constellation Compass. Morse 2-lever engine controls, spot light, 2 bilge pumps. The headroom at the helm is 6'5". 3-window windshield with starboard window opening.


An aft center door opens to the 8' 2" long x 8'7" wide cockpit. The sole is West System epoxied over fiberglassed marine plywood with hatches. A towing bit is centerline on the stern deck used for the owner's boat deliveries and pick-ups. 11" side decks lead to the foredeck with built-in port and starboard chocks and mooring bit.


This boat is a nice example of a clean, well maintained, and traditional Downeast powerboat that provides a proven stable and comfortable cruise.
