Overview

Overview

S/V MOOREA and Shannon 28's in general represent excellence in American yacht construction. Built in Bristol, RI, MOOREA has had but two owners since she was built in 1984, has been thoughtfully and professionally maintained and lightly used only in New England cruising waters. That being said, Shannon built its boats to be capable of blue water cruising and she stands ready for whatever destinations her new owner may choose. She is currently stored Greenport, NY, we invite anyone interested in acquiring an exceptionally capable pocket cruiser at a fraction of her replacement cost to inspect the boat and judge for yourself the possibilities that await.

Accommodations

MOOREA utilizes the 28's "B" layout, maximizing the social space aboard. Specifically, the main cabin offers an open U-shaped seating with settee berths port and starboard. A teak drop-leaf dining table is centerline, secured around the keel stepped mast. Aft of the port berth is a hanging locker. The head compartment is fully aft to port and includes a vanity with sink, hand held shower, hot/cold pressure water and the 15-gallon holding tank. The well-laid out galley is aft to starboard and includes a two-burner propane stove/oven, a large stainless sink with h/c pressure water, a manual water pump, an ample, deep insulated ice box, stores lockers, Formica countertops, as well as an opening port for ventilation. Adjacent to the galley, behind the companionway ladder is the AC/DC electrical panel and VHF radio. The primary sleeping accommodations are forward offering a large double berth with a folding, hinged filler. There is a large opening hatch located above this forward berth, that not only provides light and ventilation but is large enough for an emergency evacuation as well. Ample locker and shelf storage is distributed throughout the interior. Above all, the cabin creates a warm, rich environment due to the abundance of oiled teak joinery and the solid teak and holly sole. Illumination is provided by dome and bulkhead reading lights. Six opening bronze ports combine with the opening hatches to provide excellent ventilation. Finally, a Force 10 diesel/kerosene cabin heater is located on the aft port bulkhead, just forward of the head compartment.
